Stereotypes

Although grouping people could help us can get an general idea or thought of who the person is, it can lead to misjudgement and misunderstanding. In the "Black Men and Public Space", a black man is the narrator. He tells us how he experienced a lot of people feeling fear around him. There are many terrible stereotypes on how African Americans go to jail, shot people, rape people, etc. Because of this, society has a bad impression on African Americans even though they are not bad. The narrator would simply walk down the street and people would just pick up there speed and walk faster because they are scared. Some people do fall into the stereotypes, however, some does not. It is not good to judge someone based on dumb stereotypes.

  1. Just Kay said, African Americans are always stereotyped only because of certain number of people. Just because a few African Americans do something bad doesn't mean that all of them do. For example, everything that is going on in Ferguson, an African American male robbed a store and was shot. Now with all of the rioting, just because that one man it makes the whole race look bad.
