Judging a book by it cover
In "Black Men and Public Space", he tells us about how he likes to walk around at night to just reassure himself. but there are risks for him walking at night. He tells us his experiecnces walking at night and passing women who hold on to thier purse or lock their cars while he crosses the street, or simply have a look to get ready for the worst when they pass by him. These women see a Black Man walking at night and assume he's going to harm them. Although he stated that women are proned to be the main target of assults from a young black man at night, he understands why they act the way the do, they are vulnerable. It isnt good to stereotype someone because of something you were told. Although the sterotype may be right in some cases it isnt good to do so because it makes a person feel uncomfortable in their own skin.

People should not be defined by the word because each have their own characteristic different from the others. The essays Black Men and Public Space shows how people diminished a group of people by treating everyone that belongs to it in the same way. People generate stereotypes without first thinking how people is. When that happens, they tend to treat everyone in the same way, regardless of their completely different personality. It’s good sometimes to have an specific word that can help us differentiate a group of people to others, but considering that, even though a person is part of that group, it doesn’t mean that they act or behave in the same way.
